Thursday Six Pack

I humbly submit the second six pack. I'll never get used to seeing Favre in a Vikings uniform.

Percy Harvin on the other hand....he's gonna be a goodun.....

I'm hoping this is the year LT gets to go to his Super Bowl. I predicted a Chargers-Saints match up in the preseason. I sure would like to see it happen.

Love him or hate him, chances are he'll have the Eagles playing the in the NFC Championship this year.

Chris Johnson. Simply awesome.

Remember back when Denver looked like they were going places? Well this is what Kyle Orton looked like when they were. It's like the 1975 San Diego Padres fielded a football team....

Sunday Six Pack: 2009 RobbyT NFL Cards Are Here!

Well, here they are. I'm hoping to do a six pack each Sunday through the Super Bowl, but since I will be out of town for a couple of Sundays around the New Year, I know it won't happen. So I may cheat and throw up a sixer or two on Thursday nights too. I'd like to get at least one for each team up before the playoffs start. We'll see how it goes.

After 4 years of doing baseball this is my first attempt at football. Okay, it's my second attempt. This season. I had a design all but finished (16 cards, one for each AFC team), but I just wasn't happy with the design. So I scrapped them and then went back to the drawing board. I'm much happier with the way these turned out.

It's a shame I have to res these down to save for the web, because the mottled background really pops on the hi-res files.

I can't put my finger on it just yet, but there is something about them that keeps making me think of early 90's Fleer football. Hopefully it's just my imagination.

I thought about doing some sort of RC designation for Johnny Knox, one of the most exciting young players in the league, but I can't stand that thing on baseball cards (since they're almost never their real RC despite that logo) so I passed.

I love throwback uniforms in all sports. These Pats unis are some of my favorite of all time, even though I'm not a Pats fan. I like the Bills, Chargers and Titans throwbacks too. The Broncos are cool in a "did they really wear that crap" kind of way. The Jets throwbacks are awful. I've yet to see the Bengals in theirs this year. Are they not participating in this thing?

The Phillies Lose The 2009 World Series

Well, that wasn't much, was it? At least if the Yankees had to win it, Hideki Matsui was the MVP. A class act indeed. For years I've wished the Tigers would've signed him.

So that puts the 2009 baseball season to bed, but we're just getting warmed up at RobbyT Cards. Later this month we'll debut the 2009 Stat Leader Cards and probably do a little something for the 2009 Season Awards as well. I'm hoping to fill in the blanks of the long offseason with a team by team look a the cards I've done over the last two years of all the teams that didn't make the postseason, hopefully with an interesting anecdote or two thrown in for good measure. Hopefully.

With football in full force, the first every RobbyT NFL cards will be arriving shortly too!

Thanks to everybody who's stopped by and checked out the cards! It's been a lot of fun!!

Chase Utley Does It Again!

I'll keep this one short and sweet, but what a Series Chase Utley is having. With that phantastic performance in Game 5, the Phillies are still alive and now the Series moves back to New York. Hopefully the Phillies can keep the Series going as this one is shaping up to be one of the most memorable Fall Classics in quite sometime.

Yankees One Game Away

Well, it's not looking good for the Phillies.

But the last two games have had plenty of highlights.

A Rod's replay assisted HR.

Jayson Werth's 2 HR game.

Pettitte's RBI single.

But I've just about lost all interest in this series. I'll watch it, because when it's over there won't be anymore until next spring, but you can bet if the Yankees win it I'll turn it off within seconds of the last out being made.

The World Series Is Even After Two

Two solid games so far. This series looks like it's going to be a good one!

Great performances by Cliff Lee and A. J. Burnett on the mound.

A solid performance by Pedro Martinez.

Not so solid performances by the umpires again, but I'm afraid that's going to be the underlying theme of this postseason.

Utley the first lefty to hit two HR in one game off of a lefty pitcher since Babe Ruth!

Unbelievable HR by Matsui on a great pitch that couldn't have been more than a foot off the ground!

I'm guessing the games in Philly are going to get a little more intense. No complaints so far though!

Yankees Finish Off Angels

Well crap. The Yankees are going to the World Series. Great, now there will be even more shots of Kate Hudson during the games.

Ah well, it was a good series, but the Angels just came up a little short.

I'll be pulling for the Phillies, but as long as it's a great series, which I think it will be, I don't really care who wins it. This Tiger fan is really looking forward to watching the Indians best two pitchers face off against each other tomorrow night in Game 1.

Angels Stay Alive

What a great game that turned out to be. I was this close to turning it off when I decided to watch the Yankees bat in the 7th, figuring if the Angels shut them down that it would be over. What a great finish!

I bet Angels fans were loving it when Teixeira doubled in three in the 7th.

One of my favorite things about postseason baseball is watching starting pitchers make relief appearances. Jered Weaver was amazing in the 8th inning last night. Count me among those wondering if he would pitch the 9th.

On to NY for Game 6 Saturday night and hopefully a Game 7 Sunday night.

National League Champs!

Congrats to the Phillies for winning the N.L pennant.

Congrats to Ryan Howard for winning the series MVP award.

Congrats to this boring series being over. Hopefully someone in the A.L. actually gives the Phillies a tough go of it this postseason.

Ugh.....A Rod One Step Away From The World Series

I think the headline expresses my feelings rather succinctly.

Go Phillies!

Great Finish In Philly

Wow. I was pulling for the Dodgers since the Phillies won it all last year, but watching the Phils play it's hard to root against them. What an awesome 9th inning.

I loves me some Matt Stairs. Here's his 2008 October Heroes card with him pictured hitting the ball a country mile in the game against the Dodgers in last year's NLCS.

Angels Cut The Yankees Lead

I love it when guys like Jeff Mathis get a chance for a little postseason glory. A great finish on a day of great finishes.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to see all of this great game. But I do have cards for Derek Jeter and Howie Kendrick.

Enjoy.

Phillies Blank Dodgers To Take 2-1 Series Lead

I can't comment to much on this game. I was out watching the Bears fall apart against the Falcons and missed the entire thing.

I noticed in the box score this morning that Cliff Lee pitched himself one whale of a ball game. Shane Victorino fared pretty well too. I forgot I had the pic of him getting doused with beer at Wrigley earlier this season.

Hiroki Kuroda on the other hand? Not so hot...

Yankees Take Series Lead

Not that I saw the end of it. I can't stay awake through games that start at 3 in the afternoon. This one never had a chance. I did see the Angels take a 3-2 lead, only to miss A Rod's HR while watching SNL Weekend Update.

I guess A Rod is becoming something of a postseason hero. How annoying. Overshadowed by his HR were two good pitching performances by Joe Saunders and A.J. Burnett.

Hopefully the Angels come back and make a series out of it in Los Angeles of Anaheim. I'm losing interest in this one fast.

Yankees cruise in Game 1

C.C. pitched another great game and Matsui drove in a pair.

This was a pretty boring game.

Say hello to a 2008 Chone Figgins.
